Grand Spirit Makerspace

  • The exterior of the building is 100% completed.
  • Interior finishes are nearing completion with plumbing fixtures installed, interior trim stained, cabinets installed, and doors and hardware in place.
  • Final construction activities include exterior staining of the natural wood siding to a dark gray finish and construction of a mezzanine stair for additional teaching space.
  • Both remaining tasks are anticipated to be completed by the end of April.
  • RMFS will begin to move in equipment and furniture following turnover.
  • Ribbon Cutting on May 23, 2026 Memorial Day Weekend.
  • Rocky Mountain Folk School classes will begin in June! CLASSES

Mark your calendar for the official opening of the Grand Spirit Makerspace, the Rocky Mountain Folk School’s newest creative venture. A place where anyone (beginners, hobbyists, ranchers and visiting learners) will be able to access the tools and instruction they need for woodworking, leatherworking, silversmithing, and boat building. 

Space to Create Grand Lake – Project Updates

  • Modular residential units have been fully constructed and shipped from the South Dakota factory (week of March 2).
  • Units were set on foundations the week of March 9.
  • Roof trusses have been placed, establishing the signature “Grand Lake look” for the 9 residences and artist studios.
  • Roofing began the week of March 16 and is now in place.
  • Exterior wood siding is scheduled to begin the week of April 6, with work commencing in the coming weeks.
  • Plumbing and electrical work is progressing rapidly.
  • Construction has begun on the expanded boardwalk along Park Ave., Hancock Street, and the east side of Pitkin Street.
  • Additional site work and boardwalk construction along Park Ave. and Hancock will continue through May–July.
  • A new “Lift” bus shelter/transfer station connecting Grand Lake to Granby and Winter Park is underway.
  • Additional boardwalk improvements along Pitkin Street (across from RMFS) are scheduled for July–August.
  • Ribbon cutting is tentatively planned during the week of Buffalo BBQ.
  • Resident move-in is scheduled for September 1, 2026.
