Beginning Leatherworking: Rustic Leather Crossbody

Build a handcrafted leather crossbody bag featuring a classic flap closure and exterior pocket. This project introduces students to shaping leather, installing hardware, and constructing a functional bag that is both practical and timeless.
Students will gain experience in pattern layout, leather cutting, pocket construction, flap assembly, adjustable strap installation, and finishing techniques while creating a handcrafted piece they’ll enjoy using every day.
This workshop is taught by a Rocky Mountain Folk School Certified Instructor who completed our Instructor Development Program under the mentorship of a master leatherworker, ensuring students receive quality instruction while supporting the next generation of leather artisans.
