SUMMARY:Ice Sculpture Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Ice Sculpting Class\nDate: Sat\, Feb 7\, 2026 (10am-12pm)\nCost: $216 (1/4 ice block)\nLevel: Beginner & Intermediate\nInstructor: Colorado Ice Works\nLocation: Town Park – Grand Lake\, CO \n* Scholarships are available. To learn more\, please contact us at rockymountainfolkschool@gmail.com.\n* If you’re a business interested in sponsoring a student\, feel free to reach out to us at rockymountainfolkschool@gmail.com. \n*Registration Closes on January 24\, 2026 \nThis is a fun class with hands-on instruction provided by the team at Colorado Ice Works. Attendees will receive a clear block of ice\, some hand tools (sorry\, no chainsaws!) and reference material. Each class is approximately 2 hours long. Each attendee will have around 1.5 hours of actual sculpting time. Clear ice is a fascinating medium to sculpt. It is surprisingly soft to sculpt. Chisels and hand tools cut through it like a hot knife through butter. Like a perfectly cut diamond\, clear ice reflects and refracts light with each bend\, detail line or contour that is made. \nWe will spend 15 minutes at the beginning of the class discussing safety and proper tool handling. An additional 15 minutes will be spent going over the available designs to be sculpted and how to transfer those designs to the ice. Team members from Colorado Ice Works will be available to assist throughout the class\, to answer questions\, or to help anybody who gets stuck with where they are at. \nAt the conclusion of the class\, we’ll incorporate a touch of fire to melt the sculptures to a pristine\, crystal-clear finish. Participants can then wrap their unique creations for safe transport and carefully pack them into boxes to take home. This allows them to share their achievements with family and friends—a lasting reminder of the skills learned and memorable experiences from the event. \nREGISTER CLICK HERE or go to folk school website to learn more and see all the other workshops by clicking here
